hello, i am a new user to forums and have spent a few hours reading through all the great info on this site. this might sound like a **** question but i do not know the difference between the application of borium or driltek. which one to use when. the reason i ask is i am going on a long stagecoach journey about 16 days, using two horses, one person tells me to use driltek one to use borium, (some riding on pavement involved). any and all info or suggestions will help. my farrier suggests borium, when i asked why he said thats what he uses. i believe he is pretty good at what he does but a man of few words. i live in a remote town in missouri and its hard to find a farrier, he is suppose to be the best around, 3 vet refferals. so far i have been happy with his work, (not to sure of his patience). seems like a fair and honest guy. but i need to know more. thanks for any info. if this question was asked before, sorry i could not find it. thanks again.

I prefer borium myself, it works well for the carriage horses I shoe. If your farrier is quiet and softspoken then I would respect his opinion about what he wants to use. Sounds like he is good enough that he don't have to brag! KEEP him happy! Good Luck! Gary

thanks for the reply, why do you prefer borium, is traction better, lasts longer, ease of use? so many questions, sorry. i do have a great respect for your profession, but i am new out here and have only used this farrier about 5 times. i treat him well, always pay his fees, have a great workspace with rubber mats and great lighting for him and always tip. i would just like a little more info from outside source. thanks
