My Welsh cob had laminitis in June, now very well, not at all lame. Just noticed some pink staining on white hooves.Any idea why? Could it be the remains of bruising from the laminitis? These were not the affected feet.

Pictures braveheart, we need pictures.
Hoewever in the lack thereof I'll go on assuming the stains are noticed in the hind feet? Since you said the stains were seen in non affected feet......
When the laminitic attack strikes, the horse will try and get weight off its front feet (assuming thats were the laminitic problems were evident...). The horse could lie down but this not happen too often at first. First the horse uses its hind end to try end lift the front end off the ground, or at least take off some of the weight of its front feet. These not normal use of hind legs and feet may well have caused bruises that normally do not occur.
Another possibility is that the stains are a result of what caused the laminitic attack in the first place.

Yes, your reply about excess strain on the back feet causing bruising is along the lines of what my farrier said. Many thanks for that.
