A group of 22 farriers met today to re-kindle the Maine Farriers Association. A lot of great discussion was had by all and a orginizational plan has been put into motion with future meetings and clinics planned. There was also a demonstration of glues on shoes including Sigafoo series I's and III's, Dalric cuff, and direct glue method. Thanks to Peter Smith for providing such a willing horse for our weird science experiments. Brent Brown is the current President and I would encourage all Maine and surrounding state farriers interested to contact him. I have not asked him about posting his contact info, so for the time being, I am willing to have you send it to me and I will be sure to forward it on.

How were the 22 farriers who were invited selected? Will future meetings be open to the general farrier public?

They were not "selected" at all... it was open to all....some of the old members kind of spread the word around... I just found out about it last week at Dr. Myhre's Conference...I told you you should have gone , George....lol

well if you hear of future meetings I'd love to go. Just kind of ****ed off as on numerous occassions Brent asked me to join the new organization if and when he got it going and I said I was very interested and he took my card and said he'd keep me posted.

He may have lost your card...????? I know he figured both you have Phil would have been at the Myhre conference seeing as how we had two Rood and Riddle Vet/Farriers available right in our own back yard..... I will be sure to post on here anything I know of future meetings. Also, Pete Smith is the Secretary... a call to him would make sure you are on the mailing list..... Dave

I was always impressed with the MFA, as they seemed genuinely intent on sharing info with a limit on the politics. From my conversations with Brent, I will tell you everyone is welcome to attend.

I also know everyone is welcome, Brent has been trying to get this together for awhile now. Sorry I missed the Rochester clinic, I was way behind and had to get horses done that were showing that weekend and this weekend.
Dave did the location of the meetings get settled? I know Brent was working on getting it more centrally located, like Augusta area.
When and where is the next meeting?

Brent has some orginizational work to do.... bank account, registering with the state, establishing the non profit status, etc..... No firm location was set for the next meeting, though the date of Jan 19th was the target date. Also, attempting to have a 2-3 day clinic on the second weekend in April.
