I have a multi-tool on one side and an expando-wheel on the other side of an industrial grade 1 HP, 6" grinder and there is plenty of power to run both at the same time. Depending on how your rig is wired you might have to hold your breaker switch during the surge of start-up due to the power needed to get both units rolling.

Hey Mike
If you want a multi-tool get the bigger motor to run it. With the small Delta you will bog the tool down safeing and boxing the shoes, it is not enough horsepower. You can make it work, my friend has one on a small Delta grinder and uses it everyday but he bogs down the motor. If i was useing the multi-tool I would have a bigger motor so I could just press into the contact wheel and not have to worry. Don't worry about overkill, the stronger the motor the less it has to work to get the work done. It will save time also I know that I can take a pair of shoes to my grinder and will be thru with both and he will still be grinding because he has to back out of it and let the motor catch back up. I usually make one pass over the contact wheel and on his it requires two to take off the same amount of material. His grinder would be just as fast as mine if it had a bigger motor. I like the bigger contact wheel better because that is where I do most of my work. You have to get a grinder set up that will do what you need it to do and one that will work in your rig. I have mine set up on a swing out arm to keep the grinding dust out of my rig and to make it easier to use.
