Just wondering if there were any Canadians on this board. I am currently only an amature at farrier work, and am, searching for good courses to learn from, but they must be in Canada, preferrably in Alberta. If any of you great people out there have any advise, let me know.

Try Olds Collage in Alberta,
They put out some of the finest.
What part of Alberta do you hang your shingle.

I also know that just outside of Edmonton there is a fairly good school look in the yellow pages for shoeing schools, cause I guess long days and age are catching up with me cause I can't remember (geez it only been about ten years since I was up there lol)

Thanks for the replys guys!
Bradley: I was looking at your website just yesterday, found it through a different site though. Thats a nice site! Well done!. Olds is probably my best bet as far as the quality of education goes, but it is costly, and I already have a full time business to run, so the time off just can't be done. I'm up in Valleyview, AB, about an hour south of Grande Prairie. Nice to meet you! :)
Frank: The place you're talking about is called Village Farrier, and I was considering it as an option, and the Canadian Farrier School in Carstairs that has one a week long. I just can't figure out how they can teach what I'll need to know in that amount of time. I guess it's possible, but I am suspicious. I also found a correspondence course in Illinois? (I think), and figured that combined with a short course might begin to quench this thirst for knowledge. There used to be a course near here in Fairview, but they apparently didn't have the enrollment they needed, and cancelled it. We have a serious shortage of farriers up here if anyone is considering a relocation...LOL :p
Thanks for your help.

Hi I'm in Canada, Alberta
I have recently taken the course at Village Farrier this year 2004 in Sherwood Park. Andy is a great teacher and I learned lots from him. I am now working out of the Sherwood Park and surounding areas

Hey there. i am going to achool in Olds College in Alberta. First of all, I think it's great that you want to be a farrier. And second, the two guys that teach here are great and the contacts the come in to the lab once in a while are great. If you spend your time wisely, you can become a good horseshoer and make some world renowned friends. (If you have any questions, you can email me.)

Does anyone know if Village Farrier in Sherwood Park is still there? Their website does not work anymore.
