I'm not interested in stirring the pot specifically, but from the lack of posts in the candidates forum/political forum you would hardly guess it's an election year for the AFA
What I would like to know from each candidate before I vote is this:
Can Rick Burton work with Dick Fanguy, and vice versa, if they are both elected ?
Can Andrew Elsbree work with Ron Kramedjian, and vice versa, if they are both elected ?
I ask this because Rick and Ron have run a very 'joint' campaign if I can use that word, i.e. similar slogan, same logo, etc etc
It's conceivable that only Rick or only Ron will be elected and the same would apply to Andrew and Dick
Anyhow, I'd like to hear a response from each of the candidates....... my apologies if I have left any one out.... feel free to respond as well

Derin,
Speaking for myself, if elected I would be working for the best interested of the membership of the AFA. I don’t have to agree with or like the people I am working with to function on a management team, I just have to do my job. The role of the vice president is defined in the bylaws and I would do that job to the best of my abilities. That is all I can do and in my opinion all that anyone should expect of any of the officers.

Good questions Derin. Working together successfully requires more than a set of bylaws. It needs to be a genuine part of a persons nature.

Derin,
Good question! Bottom line is that this election is not about who I want to work with. It is about the direction the members want to see the AFA head in.
As for me and Rick, I actually agree with a lot of what he has to say. In fact, we’re in pretty solid agreement as to the problems with the association.
Can I work with him? Sure, I’ve worked with him previously on the BoD, and I can work with him again. But it will most probably be a stormy relationship. In my experience, Rick’s method of communication is pretty much limited to argumentation, and he argues arrogantly. I can handle the argument, but I don't do arrogance real well.
So, should we end up serving together, I’ll have to give some, and hopefully Rick will too. I really would like to see a management team that gets along well for the betterment of the association, and I’ll do everything I can to make that happen. We know what happens when the EC has personal relations problems.

I am going to vote for Dick Fanguy, and I hope you will too! But I will cooperate with whoever gets elected.
Andrew Elsbree, CJF

Andrew - those are some great points. I would like to add that an organization has only one, true, competitive advantage: the inititiative and innovation of its members. Solutions must be designed to recognize potential from within before the next level of performance can be reached. Leadership, within the realm of business, is expected but not necessarily achieved without proper training in communication, presentations and supervisory skills.

So long as everyone is working for the best interests of the AFA, I can and will work with anyone and everyone involved. For me, it has always been about what is best for the AFA and nothing else.
