definitely interesting...........I guess the question is, what do we do differently when laminitis begins knowing this new information (assuming it's accurate and further research confirms their initial findings)

I would be interested in hearing what Chris Pollitt has to say about it. I do not think anyone has done the level of research as he has or is as well funded and dedicated.

Interesting...... this isn't the first time I have read/heard the "viens are the villian" and the venoconstriction theories. In fact I had a laminitic Lippazon that I was awarded the daunting task of attempting to make him sound enough to withstand air travel from Maine to California last year. The Vet/Farrier , (same person), that recieved him on the California end, told me that he was experimenting with V i a g r a as an early treatment in the acute onset phase of laminitis. I believe it was being done in conjunction with UC Davis. V i a g r a is, after all, a vasil dialator and hence would dovetail right in with this studie's venoconstriction theories.
And guess what???? Our friendly Vets could be persuaded to over prescribe the dosage to ensure happy farriers everywhere.....lol
sorry, guess you can't say the V word...

Its an old theory that's been around for quite some years if the theory was sound anticoagulant & anti-thrombotic drugs would be beneficial before & after the horse had founded & i have found nothing to support they do so i place little faith in there old theory ?
