Very nice looking shoes, but the heel fit on two of the pictures is alittle suspect? Grants hair is turning the same as mine salt and pepper! Best, Gary

Hi Gary
Hunter fit can different from Judge to Judge
and competitor to competitior
its ment to be as you know penny on penny
hunter heels in front and for hinds sloped
inside heel and upright on outside
they woudent be shoeing to the exstreme
widtest part of the frog
the judge at this competition was
Daren Bazin

Nice forging.... but ... it looks like the heels are not even?
One buttress on the right side of the picture (medial) either not covered by the shoe or else it is higher than the other meaning the foot is out of balance medial laterally?
Either way if thats the case its a serious flaw in the shoeing and I cant believe it would be a winner.

Beautiful forgework!
It might just be the camera angle, but the medial heel on the winning shoeing appears to be a tad short. Hereabouts, no matter how pretty the forgework, failure to cover a heel is considered to be a very serious error. ("Quick, pull it off and do it over before the trainer sees it.")
That's one of the reasons I have little use for contests - they don't have a helluva lot of pragmatic application. Over here, at most race/show/performance barns, if a farrier fit a shoe like that hind is fitted, they'd be looking for a new farrier before the last foot hit the ground.

i got a look at that job
the medial heel was higher
the judge pointed out to me that nobody was consistent accross
the board everybody went down in some part of the job
