Does anyone have a feel for how well equi-pac hoof pack works as a snow pad. We are using it on the front feet of a hunt horse for lameness( which is working great), but am curious if it would work all the way around as a snow pad.
Thanks,
Dennis

I have had tremendous luck with equipac in the snow PROVIDED that you are filling the foot all the way flush with the ground surface of the shoe. Works great just costs a ton of $$$$. Dave

We also use the equipak for snow and ice,it really helps. Its is probably a little more costly then regular pads. But worked great for us.

Works great, I have not had a problem using it during the winter. I like to use P-11 studs in the heels and P-13 studs in the toe when useing Equipak all the way to the ground level, for better traction.

Phil,
Why do you prefer studs to borium or drill tec for winter traction?

I preffer Borrium, but the studs are pretty close to it and Safer than Borrium becuase I do not have to carry Oxcy/Acc. tanks, less agressive than Drill Tech. There just easier, work well, less headaches.

I prefer the drive in studs to borium because I have found it to provide a more reliable "balance", especially m/l than welded on products do. The particles in the rods are just too inconsistent, no matter how carefull and meticulous a welder you are. I think it's a shame to spend all your valuable time on the trim just to mess it up with unequal spots of borium. Besides.....it's much quicker :)
