We have a horse that is limping when making smaller circles to the left. Ths limping or 'stickiness' when trotting left is not noticed at any other time or any other gait. At the same time, we have noticed that the outer wall of the left front hoof has moved outward. When you look at this hoof from the front, the hoof doesn't look quite symmetric. Unforturnately, we didn't not notice when this non-symmetry started. We are wondering if the two problem are related and if any one can give us advice?

Perhaps the two are related, maybe some hoof imbalance, but there is no way to give specific advice until you have a veterinarian look at the horse and determine the exact source of the pain.Subtle pain shows up in small circles and at the trot best.
The hoof assymetry could be related to the cause of the pain, or not. No way to tell from here. Sorry

Vic,
There are so many possibilities that you would be wise to have the hooves X-rayed. I've come across that situation and been only frustrated by trying to correct without Rads. One time it was an old hairline fracture of the P3 re-opening, and showed lameness only when top speed was asked for to the right barrel. Good luck. John
