Funds are very limited in this situation

Andrew why don't you use a full heartbar shoe and float the area of the toe, unless you are trying to promote breakover ? Best, Gary

Hi Gary,
This horse gives me the felling of being stumped everytime I shoe him. He has flat soles, no sole depth, curling heels, thin walls, pulls shoes, limited funds to work with, etc.,etc.,etc.
I don't know why but I was thinking breakover when I did this. I didn't like the thought of all of that shoe hanging out also. He's the field boss and picks on the other horses a lot.
He's was lame after the resection and is now rideable. The new growth is still not healthy and keeps growing unattached? This is a real learning exp. for me.
Here's the pics of the other foot. Same thing here. Flat feet, thin soles and walls and very brokenback.

Gary,
How would you go about floating the toe and why would you do that?
Thank you.

Floating the toe in this instance would just mean that with a full shoe like the other foot has the toe area is relieved so there is no pressure at the toe. A few light licks with the rasp or in this case it looks like the toe is seedy so you might be able to nip alittle off instead of rasping. The result is the same you are trying to do but instead of letting the hoof breakover on the lateral toe so drasticly throws up red flags to me. I don't have problems with open toe heartbars but the area of breakover is straight UNLESS the leg is crooked in the first place???Again Good Luck! Gary

Gary,
Thanks for the replies. I wasn't sure about having the foot breakover laterally like that also but it just felt right at the time. I'll probably change things up next time around?
Anyone ever have the weld break on any of these Kercheart shoes? This one did and I was  luckely I had a close hanger and torches to savor it.
Take care everyone.
