I found a 10 year old mare that was a show horse. she had a R F foot injury 4 years ago that was the result (as I was Told) of her hiting her foot down too hard during a show. she hasent limped for more than 2 1/2 years and rides fine. after 2-3 hours of riding she still is ok. I want to buy her as she is a very nice horse and am wondering of the possibilities of her becoming lame.
I feel she was mistreated by her previous owners that caused the foot injury. she has had two foals ok. any help would be appericated. thanks Herb

I would consult with a vet for prepurches exam depending on the price, and consider the intended use for this mare.

Ditto on the pre purchase veterinry exam. In the long run it is well worth a few hundrd dollars to have a veterinrian examine her,and if he frels necessary, get some Xrays of the foot and/or ankle that was injured. Patty

Make sure you get an equine vet to do this. I ditto the above. If you don't have a good equine vet, ask around and see who's using who.
