My horse is currently in 5 months transition back to bartefoot. He is trimmed my a natural barefoot trimmer, I ride in extreme rocky areas. He has never taken an ouchy step in the whole process. His soles are rock hard and he can walk on anything and I mean anything. My problem is he knocks the hoof wall on rocks on occassion and the wall sort of peels off in little pieces, no splits or anything. Do you think this will stop when the new hoof has completly grown in. My trimmer is amazed at how well his soles are but a little concerned about the walls, I ride in boots mostly but ride barefoot at a walk to help toughen his feet. Am I being impatient?
