Just moved from Wyoming. Been buying NB for my barrel and dressage horse for a year (eliminated a tripping issue). I need a competent shoer for him here. I'm near Winchester, KY which is 18 miles east of Lexington. Anyone out there or have a referral? Thank you!!

Just moved from Wyoming.
Why would anyone want to leave G O D S country and move to Kentucky.
By the way where did you live in Wyoming?

Oh Ha Ha! Well, though we Liked (didn't really love it) Wyoming, we could NOT make a living training horses there. :( Our winters were typically 4 ft of snow on the level! Though we had usage of a gorgeous indoor arena, the colts, as you know, get quite bored after a couple months, so there isn't enough consistency in training. We looked for a milder climate and here in KY The quarter Horse council is really campaigning for more qh trainers and breeders to come to the state, so we're going to get involved as soon as we get our barn and arena built. As long as we can do what we like to do, I guess we feel a place to live is a place to live is a place... BUT my hubby did have to give up fly fishing and elk hunting to come here, THEN AGAIN, he will go back every fall to do just that anyway! Plus, if it doesn't work out, oh well, try somewhere else!
Folks in the NW corner of WY get pretty caloused with land prices. Right now, we bought a 62 acre farm w/ five year old really nice home for nearly what our 10 acres was worth in WY. I"m happier because I don't HAVE to shop online anymore! :D That is virtually your only option in many places in Wyoming (and Montana, where hubby's from). We were in Star Valley below Jackson. I got probably 90% of Christmas online every year and ALL the clothes!
This is really long and I still need a NB referral :( . Thanks for the cute comment!

Call the folks at EDSS (the NB folks) in person for a referral. They keep a list of farriers trained in natural balance. The number is 719 372 7463, weekdays 8:30 to 5 mountain time.
In KY, you may not finda NB farrier close to you ,there are less there than in some other parts of the country. If you find out that is the case, try to at least find a farrier trained in the methods of Dr. Ric Redden, who developed the 4 point system ,which is based around the same principles and is similar.

Thank you thank you Patty! Will give them a call. I did find one, but I'd like to find out if there are a few more and your advice about Ric is very helpful. That's why I like to read these forums!
