Both are doing wonderful thanks to our new farrier (I say blacksmith) and as always our vet~
They have been running and bucking like youngsters they are!

Sadly the 2yo's mom may be Insulin Resistant we will know more on the 9th when the 2yo has another set of Xrays done and we get mom's blood looked at for hormones and Insulin and sugar.
I am not to sure what is up with her, the ground got harder and she got lame so I have been padding her and she is moving nicer now. Heck I am limpy on hard ground LOL She may have foundered but she doesn't show pain like the others so I am still guessing and checking daily. I will know more when the vet comes. (it would be because of her metobolic system)

The three are on a 12% pelleted feed with roughage and this years first cutting of grass hay. And they are doing great now! I still watch like a hawk for any sign of relapse.

Have faith I know it is hard but you must have faith!

Okay Insulin Resistance has been ruled out all tests including hormonal are normal.
She just bruised her soles on the choppy frozen ground.
Her Xrays showed old rotation from the 97 incident, nothing new and thick soles to boot like her 2yo's recent Xrays almost identical.
The vet says she has great feet for the old founder.

The three younger horses have been changed to Cotton Seed Hulls and Corn Oil and doing even better!

If her soles are weak enough to bruise, then she is also at risk of bruising the edge of the coffin bone and at the risk of perminant damage. Is this horse shod or barefoot.

She is fine now once the ground softened due to warm weather, right now unshod but will be the next visit on Jan 19th.
She is really in gear now LOL
I worried about that but she came out of it okay for now and I want to put shoes back on all my horses if possible.
