Gentlemen and Ladies,

I will be attending a shoeing school soon. I am going to get a small loan to attend the school. Out of school I expect to be able to pick up a number of trim clients. I plan to ride along with a good farrier at least 1x weekly. Is there anything I need to budget for besides the cost of the school plus living expenses? I currently have a couple good shoeing books, a hoof jack, a hoof knife, nippers, and a rasp with handle. What should I plan for? Are there any particular tools or educational materials that would benefit me right away? Any advice would be most helpful. Thank you.

Shawn

Might want to grab a couple extra rasps, and an extra kinfe or two. When I first started I used the same rasp for a few months, then I used someone elses... It didnt acure to me that mine was dull until then, and I realized i ahd been useing a wasted rasp basically the whole time =]

Good luck with everything! People here tend to be very helpfull

Josh

Hello Shawn,
Welcom aboard. What school are you going to and when? Any experance you can get around a Farrier is important before you get to school, even if it's just watching.
