My Farrier God retired! So now I'm back to strictly barefoot while I search for a farrier who knows the difference b/t an underrun heel and "no heel", who will keep the toes short AND agree to come out more often than every 8 weeks.
Anyway, one of the things that always scared me about self care is balance -- M/L and front to back. I can "eye" and "sight" the hoof all day and still not have a clue. Looks ok to me, but what do I know!?
Is there anything specifically I can do to test for hoof balance?
Also, my gelding seems to be landing just slightly toe first on his LF (this foot is a little clubby due to what I suspect is to an old injury in that shoulder). I'm a little hesistant to bring down his toe, because I don't have much hoof wall above his sole there as it is. Any advice?
Edited to say Thank You! (and apologies if I sound bitter...)
