used those new tk sliders today for the first time. i have to say i was pretty dissappointed at first but after i gto the first one set up the way i wanted it was alright after that. the nail hole placement is spectacular!!!
i rolled the toe out to almost twice what it had on there, i was using the 1'' sliders size 00. i still say that they are a SOB to set up the first time you use them.
after i went back and sat down on under the shade by the truck and got to really looking at those shoes and thinking about them, the more i liked them.
i got my system down with them now. thing's are good.
1. wire brush the foot.
2. find my reference points
3. draw my lines(always!!!)
4. trim the foot
5. check shoe fit and forge(as required, took 2 heats to get it good) i recommend to just forepunch the nail holes with cityhead and use aussie 4.5 slims, the nails sit flush in the plate when done. the roll in the toe as when you get them is not quite what this horse needed, but i could forge it out to were my lines were.
6. box!!! safe!!! nail and finish
turned out great. i wish i had a digital camera to post pics it truned out real sweet.
i had to make sure it was a good job, it's my wifes hollywood dun it mare. i need to eat dinner too.
