I'd like to get some opinions on feeding hoof supplements. What should they contain for promoting good hoof growth? Do they work? Is there a good one that doesn't cost alot?

No responce yet so I'll at least say something to get it going.

All kinds of stuff that I really don't kniow what it is. I believe they just make up names for ingredients.

Do they work?

Seems like a horse that is an easy keeper shows the best improvement but they usually have decent feet to start with -if properly cared for and not overweight. I think hoof supplements are worth a try if you need growth and thicker walls but it takes 3-6 months to see much difference-a year for a whole new hoof. I like Reducine if you need hoof faster due to hoof wall being missing but otherwise a good hoof(like a pulled shoe that took hoof with it). Supplements will not make up for an otherwise poor diet, lack of care or bad environment.

Is there a good one that doesn't cost alot?

Not that I know of.
