Sort of like Box Forge, I don't know what set my horse off, but I flat got dumped couple days ago. Left collar bone ends aren't even close to meeting. Surgical repair set for the 16th. Not fun, I'm out a few weeks, but my best ever apprentice is moving back next week. He's got work waiting, my clients are covered, good timing. Lydia and I will head for New Orleans and good times in about three weeks.

Hope you get better soon Jack. What is it this year with so many people getting bucked off? Must be something in the air...

I should add that I got bucked off a few months ago. No broken bones but arm landed in some Cactus.

Sorry to hear about that Jack. It is fortunate that you have someone you can trust to take care of your horses for you. The shoulder hurt but I think you got the shorter end of the stick with that broken collar bone. Best of luck to you for a speedy recovery, you were probably due a vacation anyway.

Jack... sorry to hear about the injury. I can sympathize on a personal level. Been dumped off a couple times trying to get a new clients horse under saddle. He doesn't want to give it up and I won't quit trying. Sooner or later one of us is going to have to say 'uncle' and it ain't likely gonna be me.

Take care of yourself friend and enjoy the vacation.

Cheers,
Mark

Jack I can't believe you don't know what set your horse off. It probably thought you were going for anouther 100 mile ride and simply revolted.
Seriously take care of yourself and your shoulder, I hope you have a speedy recovery.

Jack,
If you wanted a vacation just take it, you don't have to get hurt to get one. Take care and enjoy yourself.

Did that two years ago painful but I have heard the surgery is great with very little chance of setback unlike the sling alternative I was stuck with.

Have a good rest you'll be back at it soon enough.

Thanks to all for the good wishes. Most of the pain is gone although one of those bone ends grabs every once in a while Be glad to get the surgery. Apparently the operating rooms are fully scheduled. When I opted for surgery, I asked if it would be at the orthopedic clinic or the hospital - he said "wherever I can get a room" and his nurse went out and came back to say "The 16th at the hospital". I'm sort of enjoying serving as a consultant and having younger guys do my work, but it's getting old fast.

Anyway, its a lot better.

More thanks to a neighbor today. I've been fighting my haying equipment with the one good arm. Neighbor called to say he was finishing up and would send his swathers to finish my cutting. Nine thirty this morning a big Hesston rolled thru the gate and into my fields, two hours later a second showed up and by three o'clock my hay was on the ground - saved me at least a week .Good to have friends. He puts up 5000 to 6000 tons a year (about 50 times what I put up) and boy is that impressive equipment.

He won't see this on here, but many thanks anyhow.
