I wasn't able to go to the barn yesterday - I had a huge wedding due at noon so yesterday was nose to the grind stone.

I was there Thursday and his shoes were on. I went to the barn late this evening to give Red his alfalfa. He trotted into his stall and I wanted to look at his hooves. I was on his left and he didn't want to lift up his hoof - I insisted...shoe was there. Yay. Go to the other side and he quickly lifts it up and .... no shoe. I don't know when the little darling pulled it - could have been yesterday or today. Sigh. I will look for it in the paddock tomorrow. It will only be 4 weeks on Tuesday.

He is a very high maintenance boy.

That RF is going to be a continual problem for you sorry to say. That's a hard foot to keep shod and supported.

Thanks Guys....

Ray, Texas is the bomb dot com!! It is a huge state - something for everyone - mountains, hills, piney woods, plains, desert, beaches, tropical, bayous, canyons!!! Probably left out something!

Ok guys, let me ask this...should Red always be kept in shoes once I get his foot straight as I can and center sulcus ok or could he go barefoot? My boy is a total Cary Grant kinda guy...sweet and laid back...hubby said he was a sissy

Thank God our other horse has perfect feet!

I would totally rely on any and all info about your horses feet from Mr Maki. He is the Farrier working with them right now, so he would be the best source to help you.

I will give Jason a call tomorrow. He had said that Red could probably go to the local farrier now but I am going to discuss it with him.

Glad to hear you have been to Texas. I have only been to Dallas a handful of times and have only driven there a couple of time...Dallas, Texas at 5:00 PM rush hour coming south after leaving for a hurricane...5 cars of people trying to keep up in unfamiliar places.
