Here's my first attempt at an aluminum shoe. (well the second, first is right behind it)

My creaser, punch, and pritchel all stick pretty bad and I have to tap the shoe to get them all out. Is there anyway to help this? Is this a heat problem?
It seemed to get worse the longer I worked, and I ended up really messing up the nail holes trying to get the dang punch out. Punch is smooth without mushrooming.

Joey , your punch looks way too big for your crease. Try a drift.

Jake, what about the creaser sticking problem? Any suggesttions? Although I can turn, punch and pull clips on aluminum, I haven't creased any aluminum, so I am curious too, seriously.

I put some Sole Pack in a magnetic tin on my anvil stand and periodically stuck my tools in it. My creaser ran nice and smooth matching my punch better.

Patty, putting the working end of the tool , in forshners, sole - pack, beezwax, will help the sticking problem, same as steel.

Bee wax works well against sticking. Down side is it leaves a brownish mark around the nail hole that you need to brush off. Well shaped punches and creasers help.

11.5" of 3/8" x 3/4".
Saddle soap huh? I'll have to try that.
