HORSESHOES.COM FARRIER BOARD

NOTICES TO USERS:
    1.   The views presented on Horseshoes.com reflect the opinions of the users who wrote the associated posts and do not necessarily reflect the views of the owners of this site. It is highly recommended that you have your horse examined by veterinarians and/or farriers who can physically evaluate your horse before any advice found on this site is followed.

    2.    Any personal message you send to another user can eventually be copied and distributed by the person you send it to. If you post it then you can assume it may be made public. There are individuals that do not respect the “private” in Private Messages.

    3.    Your messages are not screened before they are posted so you remain entirely responsible for the content of your messages, and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless horseshoes.com, Turpin Holdings, LLC and their agents with respect to any claim based upon transmission of your message(s).

    4.    We reserve the right to delete any post, part of any post, or user for any reason. This is a privately owned board room - and those that seek to disrupt the board for their own purposes, gains or amusement may be removed at the owner's discretion.

    5.    Horseshoes.com reserves the right to reveal your identity (or whatever information we know) in the event of a complaint or legal action arising from any message posted by you.

    6.    For your own security and identity protection, do not use usernames and/or passwords that you use anywhere other than these forums. Although we will not knowingly provide this information to third parties, no website is immune to being hacked.

    7.    We may from time to time send information to your email account including but not limited to our newsletters. We do now sell your email address to third parties.

    8.    Your participation on this board is your agreement to abide by the forum rules. If anything in this board policy creates a situation you cannot accept, simply do not participate.

RULES/POLICIES - These rules and policies are meant for the well-being and enjoyment of the majority of users.

    1.    Horseshoes.com does not condone harassment in any form. Posts which harass other members will be deleted. Any member who targets another member specifically to cause him/her distress, embarrassment, unwanted attention or other discomfort is guilty of harassment. You may agree and disagree all you want as long as you don't turn it into a personal attack on another user. Debate is important, but users should not try to pick a fight with other users. Keep the debate about ideas and don’t get personal. You may have a disagreement with someone's point of view, and that's good, because we encourage lively discussions on these forums. But personal attacks including attacks based on a person's race, national origin, ethnicity, religion or gender are strictly prohibited. When you have a disagreement with someone's opinion or point of view, address the subject, don't attack the person. If you feel you have been wronged by another user and want to engage them in a fight please use the PM system to discuss it offline, don't attack or counter attack people in public.

    2.    No defamation of character will be allowed.  This is a place to either share valuable hoofcare information, support each other or just talk with friends you have made on the forums. This is not a place to discuss the problems you are having with other companies or individuals. You should deal with them directly, offline, if you have a problem with a person or company verses a problem with a subject or point of view.

    3.    Members are to refrain from posting any unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, profane, hateful, racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable material of any kind. Posts containing any of the forgoing will be deleted, and a member who persists will be banned. This includes inappropriate words, inappropriate ****** references and other vulgar statements. Some words may be automatically replaced with **** or blanks if they violate any forum rule or policy. No ******ly explicit avatars, pictures, or content or items that violate any of the other rules of this board should be used or posted in any format.

    4.    All posts in all of the “Farriers Helping Farriers” forums must be signed by the full (first and last) name of the poster, or the posts will be removed (if your screen name IS your real full name, signing at the bottom of your posts will be appreciated, but is not required.)

    5.    All posts in the “Farriers Helping Horse Owners” forums must be signed by the full (first and last) name of the poster if the poster is a farrier or any iteration of "Hoof Care Professional" (defined on this forum as a Farrier or Veterinarian unless Horseshoes.com grants an exception to a non-farrier/non-veterinarian based on the experience and posting quality of the user). Horse owners seeking information and participating in discussions need not post their full real names, although it is encouraged. Posts not conforming to these rules will be removed immediately (if your screen name IS your real full name, signing at the bottom of your posts will be appreciated, but is not required.)

    6.    The forums titled "Farriers Helping Horse Owners..." are there for that exact purpose.  When a horse owner starts a thread by posting question(s), the responding posts are to be provided by farriers and vets, not by other horse owners. The thread may (and hopefully will) develop into a discussion between the horse owner and the responding farriers. It's not supposed to develop into a discussion including responses/advice from other horse owners. If a horse owner other than the one who started the thread has a question relating to the ongoing discussion in the thread between the original poster and the farriers, that is fine. Post the question. But keep it to just asking a question. If the farriers include the question(s) in the discussion, then the additional horse owner may participate in the discussion. But again, not in the capacity of offering responses/advice to the original horse owner who started the thread. Horse owners who try to "help" other horse owners by posting responses or advice will have their posts removed.

    7.    This forum is for the use of those who wish to discuss the option of shoeing a horse. Users who are closed to the idea that shoes may be the right answer in at least some situations for some horses should find another board to use.

    8.    Remember when writing posts that any use of ALL CAPITAL letters is considered the cyberspace equivalent of shouting, and is rude.

    9.    Posting of chain letters of any kind is not allowed, and postings involving illegal schemes will be deleted.

    10.    Users may not use the forums to post unsolicited advertising, promotional material, or other forms of solicitation. Links to products and commercial pages will be tolerated when it serves to clarify or answer a specific question as long as the link is not to a competitor of horseshoes.com or our sister sites farriers.com and horseandbarn.com. Please do not use your signature to advertise, unless it's your personal farrier business, and that business is not in competition with our sites. No advertising, selling or wanted requests are allowed to be posted on the board unless the specific category is defined as for that use. Ads are available for purchase and even free text ads are available on horseandbarn.com, use them for advertising. Banner Advertisers will be allowed on the public forums if they are answering questions. They are not to use the boards for promotion and selling. They may include their site's information in their signature lines if they are not competitors with our sites. Users may post help wanted/apprentice wanted requests in the appropriate horseshoes.com forum(s).

    11.    Except by the owner of the site, use of the Members list to send any commercial mail, including solicitations of any kind, including requests for employment, is strictly prohibited. Anyone member sending this kind of mail will be banned from the Forums permanently.

    12.    Don't use the forum to argue and challenge board policy or rule enforcement. If you want a clarification of a rule or policy please PM or email a moderator.

    13.    If you want to change the subject on a thread be polite - start a new thread of your own.

    14.    We are not staffed to screen every thread and every post 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  If it appears an infraction to the rules has been missed it is unintentional.  Most irregularities are brought to our attention by the "REPORT TO MODERATOR" button at the bottom of each post and you are encouraged to use this. Anyone brought to our attention and determined to be in violation of the preceding rules and policies will receive a warning and have their message edited or removed. Further violations may result in immediate "time outs" or permanent removal from the board. Gross/damaging violations may result in immediate removal from the board without timeouts or post editing. Attempts by blocked users to re-enter the board under alias's will be grounds for permanent IP address blocking.
