i recently had my horse deverved, he is only 15, i've owned him 3 yrs. he is awsome but suffering from navicular..don't know if it was hard work that caused it or genetics but i suspect hard work, he used to pen steers anyway after looking at the pros and cons of this procedure i went for it, the bandages are still on, i hope and pray he is better for it, i plan to keep him and do light trail riding.....our vet said he will not be likely to trip, however he won't be able to feel the back (heel) of his foot so we have to be diligent in checking his feet, already am so that is not an issue..she also said there are thousands of performance horses out there that have been denerved...
