: My horse has recently been diagnosed with severe navicular. I am told that not only does he have the disease of the navicular bone, but that he also has cyste or small tumors that run between the navicular bone and the tendon. My question is, has anyone ever experienced this and if so had successful treatment. Unfortunately, we just purchased this horse in Jan 03 without the knowledge of this problem. He is an awsome horse and we would like to help him if possible.

There are no "sure cures" for this problem. Each horse is an individual and must be treated as such. Proper hoof balance and mechanics coupled with appropriate medical therapy can lend control to the situation. If you would like a specific and detailed consult do feel free to use the consulting area of this site. We can work with your farrier and veterinarian to get this working for you and your horse.
