: My farrier just told me of a new product for treating WLD. According to him this Mersol which I understand to be a combination of Methiolate and Mercury will cure WDL. Supposedly the mercury allows it to penetrate farther up into the white line eradicating the disease.
: Has anyone heard of this or have any experience with it. I am leary of the mercury aspect. (isn't mercury poisonous?)
: Thanks.....Bob
Yes, mercury is potentially very toxic. Merthiolate has little to no therapeutic effect.
Chlorrhexidine is nontoxic to higher life forms and active against many pathogens - fungal, bacterial and viral. It is my first choice for disinfectants used on live tissue.
