My father purchased a belgian mare 10 years old 9 months ago. we have just found she has formed an extra growth on her back feet.on her soles there is a triangular shaped growth coming from hoof wall towards frog up close to heel. tip was flimsy but attached area to hoof wall was thick.we have used a hoof knife and removed it and found thrush under it.What would cause this growth?I am a first time horse owner so all this is new to me.
