My son rides a 17+ hand jumper and this summer at a horse show we encountered a problem with his shoeing. The horse slightly turns out with his right front foot. He seemed a little off one day at a multi-day show and we took him to the vet. The vet felt after watching the horse walk that the horse was not shod completely balanced. The horse was not landing squarely on the foot. How as an owner can I check that each time the horse is shod he is properly balance? Also, how do farriers check this? This shoeing mistake ended up making his coffin joint sore and consequently needing to be injected.
