: Hi there - I'm new to the horse scene - so I'm not
: 100% sure if I am describing this situation the
: right way but here it goes. On my horses back hoof
: I can see where the top of the hoof as separated
: from the heel - its probably about 1" opening. The
: only reason I know this is because there was alot of
: blood in his stall when I fed him this morning. He
: isn't limping and doesn't seem to be bothered by it
: and it isn't bleeding anymore. Should I be applying
: some kind of antibiotic to it? Band-aids? Any advice?
: Thanks

Well since there was blood all over it sounds like he injured himself. When in doubt call the vet. Welcome to the horse world and vet bills. Patty
