: For several months, my horse has been lame in the left front leg and occasionally in the right front leg. Vet and farrier used banana shoes, 2 months ago. Lameness increased. Shoes were removed. She has been x-rayed one month ago and rail shoes were put on at this time. Lameness has declined, (marked improvement) but still she is showing some lameness on left front leg.

: What do you think of these rocker type shoes? They look odd on her and can't tell if they are causing the lameness. Vet says that she is trying to grow the hoof capsule and get horse to transfer more weight to the front of the foot, improve the alignment of the bones.

Did the vet take Xrays specifically for the banana shoeing and carefully draw out measurements so the farrier could accurately 'map' the hoof trim and shoe fit? If not, that is a common cause of failure in that or any type of therapeutic shoeing. And BTW what was the diagnosis of the cause of the original lameness?
