Seems like you guys know a lot so here we go. I just got a Retired TB. race horse. He was very mistreated and very starved. His right front hoof is in very bad shape. Chipping and probably shorter than should be. I am doing everything that I can to try to make his hoofs healthy again. I did notice today that he has new growth of about an 1/2 inch. I put him in very soft pasture and his shoes are off. The real problem is that I am trying to build his muscles and body back up, but he is clipping his right ankle really bad. I don't ride him very long, but his ankle is always bleeding by the time I quit. I was wondering if his hoof being in such bad shape is makeing him favor that leg. A farrier is suppose to be coming Wednesday to look at him. This horse is a real big show off and really trys to strut his stuff. But he is as sweet as a kitten. I have noticed that he starts bobbing his head up and down after I ride him for a while like his foot is hurting him. I do get off then. This is not an all the time thing though, so you see why I am so confused. Thanks for all your help, it is really appreciated. Linda
