Personaly I think you should have had the Vet out first. No disrepect for your farrier and your farrier may be highly qualified, but your dealing with an injury that should be diagnosed and treated by a Vet. There is the possibility that if things do go wrong there is nothing your vet can do becuase you waited to long.
Phil
