I have a mare who has torn her hoof. Her tear involves the coronary band and goes in near the heel(on the rear quarter) and in towards the frog. The tear is on the white line in one area and goes in to the laminae. My farrier cleaned it up, nipping away what part of the mess that he could. I'm to clean with peroxide, soak with iodine solution, pack with gauze. a foam pad goes on the bottom of the hoof and I wrap with vet wrap and protect it with duct tape. With the bandages changed daily. I haven't had the vet out to inspect at this time and probably won't unless it appears that infection is starting. Do you have any suggestions on anything else to do for her at this time?
