: : My wife and I are wanting to remove the shoes on our horses and need some advice as how to remove them.

: Call a farrier to remove the shoes and properly trim the horses to go barefoot. For the cost of the basic tools you would need, you could have a prperly trained professional do this many times.

: Derin

Derin is 100% correct. If you need advice on how to remove shoes you most likely will not know how to level and ballance the hoof. I have given some of my more able clients intruction in emergency shoe removal for times when I can't get there and the horse could be injured if the shoe was not removed. This was after observing shoe removal a number of times. Find a competent farrier, it's in the best interest for you and your horse.
