: I have a two year old gelding who is trimmed every 6-8 weeks and is ridden usually at a walk. When turned out or ridden each day he does not get stocked up or puffy is more like it. But if left in large box stall he does get puffy or stocked up. Maybe one leg or two or maybe all four. This does not happen every time or toany big degree. Why would this happen growing pains or what The colt has never showed any signs of being lame. Thanks Doris

The reason is the stalling - lack of movement = lack of circulation and stocking up = years ago when my horse was boarded it was a regular occurance as the horses were on 9 to 5 turnout and stalled at all other times - if it was raining the horses were in 24/7 - the worst I saw was during a 3 day rain.
