: : I am finding the worst part right now is changing the bandages on her front feet (can't get shoes on yet and she's just wearing a frog pad). She can't lift her feet long enough for me to check the frog pad and re-wrap. I think it's best to try to do it when she is lying down but she gets up as soon as I walk in. Any advice on this?
: Let her keep lying down for now. To hand walk a lamintic horse every 4 hrs can be asking for trouble. If the lilly pads are on tight leave them alone until they get loose enough to require redoing. You might before hand give her a dose of bute, wait until it starts to work then redo the pads. Don't get hung up on using bute too much as the long term effects will hurt later on. Good Luck! Gary
All I apologize if it sounded as though I suggested walking a foundered horse! I meant I was amazed that this was said by a vet. I believe pain is meant to keep us off our feet (no pun intended).
