: Katy, thanks for the encouragement. I am getting advice from a good vet and farrier. The mare is so lame right now I was wondering how she could ever come out of it. She is even too sore for shoes and we are just using a glued-on pad on the laminitic foot. The vet and farrier tried all kinds of shoes but they made her even worse. How long did you treat your horse?

Malinda,

My boy also had very significant rotation (though possibly measured incorrectly by vet who said it was 15 - 17 deg)
When he finally got help, we were riding in about 6mnths. Unfortantely he foundered again after being vaccinated and he spent 1 yr on bute and hardly able to walk. We finally submitted to a tenotomy - not to be undertaken lightly - and within 2 wks he was walking comfortably (he was allowed to out of his stall earlier than normal).
I think the key is to get help - but dont stop questioning - find out all the info you can. Believe it or not I recently read an article that had a foundered horse being walked every 4 hrs!
Good luck,
Tricia
