: : : on 8-10 and 8-12 I posted mass. and got go sound advice I had another vet. look at my horse good.
: : : It has been 6 wks.sents my farrier came out. So he came out today .The changes was unbeliveable Blues feet had out groude his bar shoes and when his frog was trimed the coffin bone was pushin against the soul you could see it . It has not broke through yet. My farrier said that in his yrs. of shoeing foundered horses he had never seen anything like it. we made pict. He did not replace shoes or do anything .said it was not his place to tell my that Blue needed to be put down at this point. But that was what he would do.
: : : But for now we are going to try no shoes and see it Blues on presser might push the coffin bone back up.This horse has a strong urge to live he has not give in yet.I have two weeks to see.I have cut his bute down to 1/2 in morring and 1/2 at evening. To find the lowest pain con. point has been on bute sence Aprial 2003 2,4,3,1,tabs.and now 1/2.Any advice.

: : People here can help your horse - doing nothing WONT!
: : There is so much info here - get the styrofoam - protect his feet and then get real help. If you are determined to go barefoot Anne on this board can help.

: It is mechanically impossible to "push" a coffin bone back into place. Shoeing a laminitic horse with a pressure type shoe can invite a disaster.

: This horse needs radiographs, venograms, and a way to stop the pull of the deep flexor with correct shoeing or a DDF tenotomy.

: If you need detailed assistance, I can be reached through the consultation area of this site.

: Did a tenotomy on a chronic laminitic three weeks ago that had broken through the sole. She has regrown sole over the end of her coffin bone already and is ready for a nail on shoe and wants to run the pasture (This is obviously not allowed at this point). She is on no pain killers of any type at this time.

Dr Myers -
Thats good news to hear as we just had a tenotomy last Tuesday - and we are hoping for min. a comfy pasture potato - maybe even a horse that can do short easy rides.
