I too have xrays of my own personal horse who started this journey for me - these xrays show ski tips and bone destruction in a 7 month period - this occurred prior to my ever hearing of Dr S and was the reason for my introduction to her - additional rotation occured while using foam pads -and the destruction to bone occured during the time my former farrier was applying his interpretation of another popular trim style - I certainly do not blame this on either - nor do I go around blasting for the failure of what was attempted - I just accept that I did not know better and that those who attempted to help my horse during that time could not help. There are many success stories and with all "methods" success and failure for sure - do we know everything we need to know to tell us whether it was the problem with a method or it's application - I do not think so.

: : : : Patty - are you talking about the before and after xrays in section 7 of naturalhorsetrim showing destruction in 2 years?

: : : : : And this is not the first horse I have seen who;s bones were ruined in an honest attempt to "fix" shoeing problems by removing shoes completely or by forcing an individual foot into a form it simply should not ever achieve given the individual conformation or the sitution. There is one set of 'before and after' Xrays on the naturalhooftrim site who's coffin bones are wrecked due to developing pedal osteitis after two years of Strasser trimming. The unfortunate thing is the horse was sound before the trimming commenced, but is now not, and will have to live with damaged bones forever.

: : : Patty - If you are referring to the xrays in section 7 you are totally WRONG - this is a horse that indeed has coffin bone deteriation in 2 years + of incorrect trimming - BUT - the horse was/is a founder - the horse IS NOT AND HAS NOT been trimmed by a Strasser CHS. The horse WAS NOT sound when barefoot trimming was initiated. The horse WAS cared for by a barefoot trimmer but the trimmer was/is a practitioner of another "style" ( based on wild horse hooves )

: : : It is very unfortunate BUT IN NO WAY RELATED TO THE STRASSER METHOD. The horse was left with too high heels and the toe was trimmed for a certain toe length in inches leaving the horse too steep and on it's toes. The owner was confident the trimmer she used knew what he was doing and was very upset and saddened when the horse failed to improve , she was shocked upon seeing the follow up xrays showing bone loss.
: : : Reading the text with the xrays the naturalhorsetrim site is warning people what can happen if you trim a horse and plug in certain toe length in inches without considering what is going on inside a hoof.

: I don't know which horse is in section 7, and cannot go back to refer by section since I was barred from the naturalhorsetrim site. One particular horse I refer to is in the pictures section, and titled 'Zuzu'.The trim in question on that particular horse maintained low heels and a parallell plane coffin bone. But that is certainly not the only horse I have seen ruined. If that is the horse, the owners doid not tell me he had been foundered,m and at any rate there was absolutely no rotation in the "before " pics, just a normal angle coffin bone, a few degrees from ground parallel at most. The distal edge of the bones would not have deteriorated like that had the horse had adequate protection. AS well as that horse, other horse owners and trimmers (including a few formerly certified by Strasser) have had stories of failures accompanied by Xrays and pics that I have seen. Patty
