I recently took my horse to the U fo M to see Dr. Turner for a lameness exam. My horse was lame on left front with coffin joint pain. Dr. Turner wants my horse to be shod with rocker toe to increase the shoe surface area but maintain the breakover where it currently is. Increase the sole and frog support by utilizing the Vetec polyurethane support. Dr. Turner believes the problem is hoof related and by improving foot support this will help. My questions are. What is Vetec polyurethane support? My horse has alwyas had good, healthy, hard hooves. No heal contraction at all. My second question is this. I'm somewhat ambivelant about the farrier I have been using. Would it be unprofessional if I used another farrier that I know is very good.
