: Before I was using Keratex hoof dressing but lately I have just been using TuffStuff. And since he has navicular should I or should I not use the wedges? I don't jump him anymore we just compete high level dressage.
Wether or not to use pads is an interseting question, as I don't use wedges on nav horses for the last 15 years or so with very high success, but Rick says your horse will have problems due to prolapse etc. if you don't. I've got many nav horses I've been shoeing for more than a decade without wedges with no signs of prolapse or other problems related to not using wedges, try your horse both with and without and see wich method he prefers, and go with that.
As for hoof dressing I like corona but there are lots of different kinds, one thing though, don't use for a few days before the farrier arrives as the greasy mess is difficult to work with. the laquer based stuff is no problem however. But these are more of a coating.
