Hi! I have a 16 yr old TB, who has navicular. He has horrible feet and can't keep shoes on for any length of time. Because of his navicular, the vets have said that we need to use wedges in his shoes..the only problem is he is out all day and only comes in at night (7-8 pm) and let back out very early in the morning (5-6 am). We have tried glue on shoes which only stay on for about 2 1/2 weeks. We have gone through many farriers because of his problems. Our new farrier said that we should not use wedges because then the mud is able to suction his shoes off easier. The only problem is then I can not ride. My horse, Tux, recieves hoof supplements and we apply dressings to his feet. What can we do to prevent him from losing his shoes so often? And, what type of shoe would work best for him, considering he has navicular? We have tried everything on the market! Please help!
