8 YO QH has been barefoot for 10 weeks. Pasture sound but still tentative and ouchy on gravel, rocky ground.

Haven't been riding him much at all while he's transitioning. Rode in Easy boots then got him into Old Macs. Rode Sat, Sunday, and upon removing the boots Sunday noticed bilateral places about 1/2" long (in line with the point of his frog ) where it looks like the wall is wanting to separate from the sole- He's not tender to hoof testers, and the gap is less than a 1/2" deep- is he just growing out nail-weakened wall, or do you think he's in trouble? Farrier can't get to him til Thursday of this week. This is happening on both fores, hinds seem ok. These spots are positioned pretty uniformly on both fores, and on both inside and outside wall. Horse stands pretty straight and has a tiny foot, OO. Think he needs to go back to shoes?

Thanks in advance.
