I reciently was given an older gelding, and have noticed his front left heel has cracked. it has made its way up to his coronet band, and he is now sore on it. he is wearing shoes right now. I have asked advice from other farriers and they have told me to have pads put on him. what will this do? how can i help fix it? and how can i prevent it in the future?
