I have a TB mare with soft feet who has developed a crack in the sole of her foot. The crack runs parallel with her toe (along the curve), and it approx. 3" long. Her field is somewhat muddy, but not much can be done about this (we live on the Canadian west coast). I have been applying Keratex to her feet, and it seems to be helping, but it can't fix the crack. She is sound on grass and for light riding in the gravel ring, but can't be jumped as it opens the crack again. We are planning to put pads on her. I was wondering how long this crack might take to grow out (it's halfway between the point of her frog and the wall), and if you have any suggestions for care. Thanks.
