I have been riding same horse(for lessons) for
approx 3 years. He is around 8 yo, part draft/tb.
He is never lame, has no shoes. My husband went
to look at him and asked me why he has cracks on
his hoofs (he has large hoofs). I don't know anything
about this...I had noticed them before but the owner has all the horses hoofs cared for every 6 weeks or so.
He is jumped (less than 4 ft) and rides in sand ring
and trailrides. He is pastured out most of the time. I
didn't want to ask about the cracks until I know a little about them,also dont want to upset/insult
the owner by acting like he is not cared for. He
is always healthy and I really want to buy him but
don't want to buy a horse that will later have
problems. I would like to read up on this subjectbut
have been warned that many books offer conflicting
advice. Thanks
