: The crack is superficial and about a hair's width for its entire length which is about half the way up the hoof right now. I'm keeping a close eye on it and if gets any worse I'm going to have the farrier out to put shoes on. I'm going to see if I can pick up either the Valentines or Keratex at our local farm store today.

The Valentine's and the Keratex do exactly opposite things. Read the information on the Keratex pages on this site (and post a question to Colin on their bulletin board).
