It's usually the shoer's fault for leaving the sole level between the heels and bars, getting a pinch.
Also, if you're using swedges, you might want to try an aluminum shoe since it's a bit wider webbed... could help some.
He's not cross-firing, right? Sometimes that shows up as bruises in the corn area.
