: : my pacer has only been in work for two weeks and I have just had her shoed and the farrier found some bruising in the corn area, this seems to be an ongoing problem. What could be causing this. The bruising is always in the front hooves.

: Feet too long. Shoes fit improperly or left on too long. Incorrect balance of foot. Injury. Bars too long. Concussion. Injury from rock, stone, hard ground, etc.

: Rick

More on shoe fit and imbalance....heels not trimmed adequately, (underrun or too tall), breakover point too far forward, shoe too short at heels, shoe fit too far forwad on foot, medial lateral imbalance, etc etc. If it is not from neglecting to shoe or trim in a timely manner before the foot gets overgrown ,then usually faulty farriery work is the culprit.
