: I got a TB gelding four months ago. He goes short behind, but with my farriers help thru his fourth shoeing, he is going better. He shortened toe and nailed on a larger shoe set back. When my farrier rasped the outside of his hoofs some pink spots became apparent on the outside of his hoofs, not the sole. These have now moved to the bottom 1.5 inch or so. We feel it must not be pigment since it is gone and his foot hasn't grown out that much in 4 months. Could thy be a sign of what is wrong with him? Any input would be much appreciated!

Yes, they are probably bruises. Is the horse base narrow
behind, or load that leg unevenly?
I have a horse who has be recovering from a torn muscle in his butt. He over loaded his good hind leg for quite a
while which I'm sure was a uneven load on the good leg's hoof.
He's got ALOT of bruising that can bee seen as pinkish red
thru the side of the hoof wall. When I trim him,
I can see that it is actually the wall tissue (as some has grown down to ground level now).
